Ivory Mathews Taps Seasoned Leader as Chief Operating Officer
Columbia Housing Expands Leadership Team

Columbia, South Carolina.....Columbia Housing Interim Executive Director Ivory Mathews has named Yvonda Bean (pronounced E-Vonda Bean) as the agency's new Chief Operating Officer effective August 30, 2019. A proven leader, Bean has over 19 years of progressive experience in executive leadership with affordable housing agencies in the Palmetto state, as well as in other parts of the country.

Originally from South Carolina, Mrs. Bean's experience in the affordable housing industry began in 2000. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director/CEO of the Housing Authority of the City of Lafayette (LHA), Louisiana where she transformed the Housing Authority from a U. S. Department Housing & Urban Development (HUD)-supervised Agency to a thriving organization with financial and staff stability.

Mrs. Bean's track record reflects the successful administration of the Low-Rent Public Housing Program, Capital Fund Program; Housing Choice Voucher Program; Section 811 Housing for the Disabled Program; Section 202 Housing for the Elderly Program; HOME Program; Community Development Block Grant Program, the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Summer Food Service Program; the Corporation for National and Community Service AmeriCorps (CNCS) VISTA Program; and the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs. She has also contributed to the attainment of greater than $60 million in affordable housing development initiatives, through programs such as the Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, HOME, Housing Trust Fund, Community Development Block Grant, and Federal Home Loan Bank programs.

In her role as Chief Operating Officer of Columbia Housing, Mrs. Bean is responsible for day-to-day operations of all the programs of the agency. She will work closely with Mathews and the Columbia Housing leadership team to maximize operational efficiencies that are resident-focused and HUD-compliant.

"We are looking forward to the energy and talent Mrs. Bean brings to Columbia Housing," says Mathews. "Her experience in successfully developing, implementing, and overseeing resident-centered programs goes hand-in-hand with our organizational philosophy and strategy to build a winning team that will improve service delivery to residents; create a climate of transparency and accountability; and increase community confidence," concludes Mathews.
