COVID-19 Letter to Housing Choice Voucher Tenants and Landlords

Dear Housing Choice Voucher Clients and Landlords:

I want to assure you that Columbia Housing is committed to doing everything we can to assure the health and safety of our residents, partners and staff during the coronavirus pandemic. We are in continuous and close contact with public health officials and we are following all directives from state, county, city leadership and public health officials.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Richland County Council, and Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin are all in agreement that conditions are so concerning as to warrant a State of Emergency in response to increased cases of COVID-19. The state, county and city leadership continue to emphasize persistent and intentional Social-Distancing coupled with good hygiene as the best way to slow the spread of coronavirus.

For the safety of our residents, staff and the public, Columbia Housing has temporarily closed its Main Office at 1917 Harden Street for general public access. All satellite property management offices are temporarily closed as are all Community Rooms.

We remain fully committed to serving Columbia Housing voucher participants and partners and are making a host of services available by phone, email and on our website at columbiahousingsc.org. You can contact your case manager or regular contact at Columbia Housing at any time. If you are unsure how to reach them, you can call 803-251-2747 or email HousingChoiceVoucher@chasc.org. Landlords can continue to list rentals and access Columbia Housing via the Landlord Portal on our website. On the reverse side of this letter, we are providing more information on how to proceed with common interactions with Columbia Housing, and including contacts for the latest public health directives and guidance.

These are challenging times, but we are here for you. I wish you all the best and echo our governor, county council, mayor and city council in strongly urging you to follow public health
directives and avoid contact with other people that is not absolutely necessary. We will continue to keep you updated on Columbia Housing services during this unprecedented public health crisis.

Take Care,

Ivory Mathews
Interim Executive Director
