Advocacy Alert - Affordable Housing IS Critical Infrastructure

On Friday, May 21, 2021, Columbia Housing out of an abundance of caution voluntarily relocated 24 families from the St. Andrews Terrace Apartments after the Columbia Fire Department found a gas leak on the property at 201-226 St. Andrews Terrace Road. We authorized Dominion Energy to cut off the gas until we can determine exactly where the gas fumes are coming from and how it can be remedied.

We really appreciate all of the heartfelt calls and messages we've received from concerned citizens inquiring about how they might be able to help.

Here is how you can help us.

President Biden's 'American Jobs Plan' recognizes that housing is infrastructure and it calls for resources to expand and preserve the country's supply of affordable homes, among other critical national investments. The $213 billion proposed housing investments include:

  • Public Housing Capital Fund: $40 billion
  • $20 billion in homeownership tax credits over 5 years
  • Home upgrades, retrofits, and weatherization: $27 billion

Congress plans to make a once in a generation investment in infrastructure and we need your help to make sure affordable housing is included!

We ask that you click on the link below to help us send a strong message to Congress:
